He’s back… We’re delighted to announce the next release from internationally renowned Polish composer and bassist Wojtek Mazolewski and his Quintet (WMQ), When Angels Fall be released on December 6th CD / DL / 180 Gram Limited Edition vinyl. WMQ have drawn inspiration from the music of Polish jazz legend and illustrious Hollywood film composer Krzysztof Komeda, a truly remarkable character. Blessed with a huge creative talent – yet shrouded in myth and legend – his tragic, early death brought a sudden end to a growing canon of beautiful compositions.
The album cover was designed by Rosław Szaybo – a long-time friend of Krzysztof Komeda who also designed the cover of the legendary album Astigmatic (and also Judas Priest’s British Steel and The Clash’s The Clash). Check it out below along with more info on what Wojtke’s been up to…
WMQ – Autumn Tour 2019 – 23 concerts in 8 countries…
Wojtek and his quintet (featuring, Oskar Török on trumpet, Marek Pospieszalski on tenor saxophone, Joanna Duda on piano and Qba Janicki on drums) have had a very busy year and have no plans to slow down any time soon, especially this autumn. Having just headlined at Tokyo Jazz Festival, they’ll set off to Europe as part of a 23-concert tour inaugurated by their concert at the Atlas Arena in Łódź, followed by shows in London at the EFG London Jazz Festival, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Germany, Romania and 300 kilometers from the Arctic Circle in Norwegian Lofoten. Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet will be touring two projects this autumn: Polka Worldwide Deluxe Edition, their first Whirlwind release, which just performed in August at Gilles Peterson’s brand new We Out Here in Cambridgeshire (see photos below); and When Angels Fall.
