Monocled-Man-Cover

Rory Simmon’s ‘Monocled Man’ released their debut Southern Drawl with us in April and the band has already been called one of the most exciting new groups in the UK’s alternative scene.  Here’s some recent praise in the press:

“Monocled Man are another fierce contender on the UK’s triving alt, electric jazz scene.”
4 Stars, Jazzwise Magazine  (review posted to the left)

“Monocled Man is downtown New York edginess meets northern European cool, with an adrenalin injection of raw London punk energy.
The Irish Times

“The verve and raw energy of Monocled Man is addictive, especially from a trio (Troyka and Partikel fans are sure to find the rough-hewn vitality here very attractive), and the prospect of live extemporization is definitely something to look out for. An absorbing 9-track, 45-minute playlist (all composed by Simmons) which is as full-bodied as it is exciting.”
AP Reviews

“The feeling is very much of a live session, with Montague’s choppy riffing integrating well with Scott’s urgent drumming on up-tempo numbers such as Bullet Nose, and the three players building atmosphere very effectively together on Scribbles. Fans of Red-era King Crimson and recent developments in Scandinavian jazz, will find much to enjoy in Monocled Man’s blend of rugged interplay and melodic soul-searching.”
Herald of Scotland

And the album has been getting considerable play over at JazzFM on Chris Phillips great show The Blue Print.

Don’t miss Monocled Man’s upcoming Jazz in the Round performance at the Cockpit Theatre in association with BBC Radio 3 presenter Jez Nelson, one of London’s great contemporary music showcases on June 30th, check the poster below and visit their website here:
