jim

A big congratulations to Jim Hart for recently winning 1st place in the British Jazz Awards for the ‘miscellaneous’ instrument category. This is Jim’s fourth award, having won three previous British Jazz Awards in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and now 2013. To view the full list of winners for this year please click here.

Jim plays with many of the top bands on the British music scene and is noted as being a “forward-looking contemporary vibraphonist such as New York’s Chris Dingman, Matt Moran, and Chicagoan Jason Adasiewicz” (Jazzwise Magazine).

He released his 4th album as a leader last September – The Cloudmakers Trio with Ralph Alessi which featured set pieces by Jim. London Jazz stated the album as an “intense, virtuosic but immediately accessible recording of four utterly compatible musicians in jostling, fierce interactive mode. A treat.” Jim has also recorded on Michael Janisch’s debut solo release Purpose Built on WWR.

To add to the above great news, Jim has been nominated for the second consecutive year in the Downbeat readers Poll in the vibraphone category. The poles are still open, so to vote for Jim please click here
