15th May 2013: Jeff William’s ‘The Listener’ Receives 4 star review from Marlbank + High-Praising Review from The Jazz Breakfast + Mention in Drummer Magazine

FRONT_COVER_PAGE_1-1(1)Our first set of reviews are in for the next WWR release – Jeff William’s ‘The Listener’. Jazz Breakfeast says that The Listener  ” isn’t too far from Ornette Coleman or Sonny Rollins territory” and Jeff William’s  “immensely powerful technique is deployed with restraint and polyrhythmic virtuosity”.

Marlbank have given the album a glowing 4 star review, stating that “Jeff Williams quartet finds itself in the realm of the cool school, a sound partly identified with the loadstar of Lee Konitz” (who incidentally will be appearing on WWR with a release later this year). Marlbank also go on to say that “the composing is excellent working piece by piece to build the record in to something special.”

The album will also be featured next month in the new releases section of Drummer Magazine. The release contains high standards of playing from fantastic musicians: Duane Eubanks – Trumpet, John O’ Gallagher – Alto Saxophone, John Hébert – Double Bass, with Jeff William’s himself on drums.
