9th June 2013: Jeff Williams Recieves Two 4 Star Album Launch Concert Reviews from The Guardian & The Financial Times PLUS Glowing Review from London Jazz News & Feature on UK Jazz Radio

The Listener Low Res

Jeff Williams released his seminal second album The Listener on WWR last week and has had received glowing album reviews, including 4 star reviews from both The Guardian and Marlbank.

Today we hear news of two more 4 star reviews via The Guardian and The Financial times on the album launch concert that was held at Dalston’s Vortex Jazz Club, plus an album review from London Jazz News and a feature on UK Jazz Radio.

On the launch concert at Dalston’s Vortex Jazz Club, The Guardian has described Jeff’s performance as “powerful and widely experienced” and that Jeff “has taken his time developing what has become a distinctively independent and personal muse, but it’s been worth the wait.” Also on The Listener‘s launch concert, The Financial Times described the performance as having “an impressive textural range” and that the concert “mingled familiar references with left-field modern jazz”.

London Jazz News review on the album states that  “Williams is at the height of his powers after 40 years of working with so many jazz greats, from Stan Getz to Dave Liebman” continuing to say that “This album takes the tradition onwards, with gifted musicians whose cutting edge solos show how intently they’re listening to each other. And now we’re listening too.”

UK Jazz Radio last week broadcast a track from The Listener entitled ‘Beer and Water’, you can catch the line up and listen again here.
