9th August 2013: “It could turn out that the best live jazz album released in the US this year was one recorded at a British pizza joint in 2011” says JazzTimes about ‘Banned in London’

AO & MJ QuintetMore praise for Banned in London!!

Banned in London, the debut album from the Aruan Ortiz & Michael Janisch Quintet featuring Greg Osby, has been heralded in the New York Times and Downbeat Magazine as of late, and now we’ve been alerted to a glowing review from JazzTimes which says the album could turn out to be the best live albums of the year– some serious praise indeed (even if they do refer to the amazing club that is the Pizza Express as a ‘pizza joint’ :-)).  We’ve reprinted the review below.

The band also just got off the road after a very successful summer tour, and have put up a tour picture collage over on our Facebook page.  Excitedly, they will be headlining our first Whirlwind Festival on OCT 12,.   More information, check out their website: www.aomjquintet.com
