13th September 2012: Aruan Ortiz & Michael Janisch’s ‘Banned in London’ now with preview tracks and new soundcloud site!

On Oct 29, 2012 we’re releasing the debut album of one of the most exciting new contemporary groups operating in contemporary music: the Aruan Ortiz and Michael Janisch Quintet. Their debut album titled ‘Banned in London’ is pressed and ready to go, and we’ve got sounds for you now on their album page.  They have also just launched their brand new Soundcloud page, and completely updated their website with new information on their CD release tour which includes a major headlining spot again this year at the London Jazz Festival.

This quintet features some serious stars of the contemporary jazz world, and the featured special guest of the ensemble is the one and only Greg Osby on alto saxophone, Spanish trumpeter Raynald Colom, and first call NYC-based drummer Rudy Royston.  We’re very excited about this release to say the least, and just check out some of the fireworks that went down when this album was recorded live at a sell out Pizza Express Jazz Club at the London Jazz Festival in NOV 2011, by checking out all their new preview tracks below.  It’s safe to say that this will be one of the most electrifying albums put out this year in the contemporary jazz world– just hear for yourself below.  As one of the reviewers who was at the live recording summed up: “The atmosphere in the Pizza Express was tremendous, with each solo throughout attracting a voluminous and enthusiastic response from the crowd…the AO/MJ Quintet featuring Greg Osby delivered a mesmerizing performance…”
