We’re happy to announce Will Vinson will release his next album in the Autumn, featuring his chordless trio of Matt Penman and Eric Harland, with special guest Melissa Aldana.

Tripwire will be released September 16 2022.

This will be the third release from saxophonist and composer Will Vinson, following his 2020 release Four Forty One and collaborative album TRIO GRANDE with Antonio Sanchez and Gilad Hekselman.
Will says: “Realizing a long-held ambition, and in my first recording project since the lockdowns, I’m now releasing my first chordless trio record. The freedom, matched with responsibility, that such a group brings meant I had to get the personnel right. And I think it’s fair to say I nailed that part: Matt Penman is one of the most sensitive, responsive, rhythmically and harmonically adventurous bass players out there. And Eric Harland brings sheer magic and joy to every project he comes into contact with. And it was a great honor and treat to share the studio with the great Melissa Aldana for two tracks. I’ve been following her career and development for many years and it’s always felt like we should do something together one of these days, so I seized the chance.
This record combines some specially composed pieces (Tripwire, Fable), along with some favorites of mine I had never found the right context to record (Blue and Sentimental, For All We Know), an older original I wanted to hear with two horns (Resting Jazz Face), and a free-wheeling approach to a classic (All The Things You Are).
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed the fleeting and spontaneous session that created it.”
The album will be available on CD/DL/180gram Limited Edition LP
Stay tuned for more info, sounds and a pre order date.
