3rd October 2022: Announcing ‘Illusion’, the new album from Kira Linn dropping April 2023

We’re thrilled to announce the forthcoming new album Illusion, from German saxophonist and vocalist Kira Linn.

Illusion will drop in April 2023: “The album reflects emotions and thoughts that arose in a time of loneliness, silence and uncertainty. During this period I learned to enjoy the deceleration, set out to discover and try out new things,” says Linn.

The first single – ‘That Thing’ – will be released October 20 and you can pre-save it now via this link. ‘That Thing’,  by Linn and her Linntett, describes the search for that certain something that seems to be lost: the spark, the enthusiasm, the twinkle in the eye.

This feeling is also reflected in her melancholy expression on the cover, while the green colorworld surrounding her stands for hope.

As a novelty, Kira Linn sings for the first time in one of her tracks – unexcited and thoughtful, but also hauntingly between neo-soul and jazz. An immensely attractive introduction for the album Illusion, which will be released on Whirlwind Recordings April 7 2023.

Pre-save ‘That Thing’ now.

Linntett is the sextet of baritone saxophonist and composer Kira Linn. After two previously released modern jazz albums, the band takes a slightly different musical path with their new album. For the new program, Kira Linn has been inspired by electronic and pop music.

They play jazz music with elements of neo-soul, indie and avant-garde pop. In doing so, the Linntett combines the acoustic sound of alto, tenor and baritone saxophone with the electronic sound of electric bass, synthesizers and Rhodes and electronic effects. Through the multi-layered arrangements and expressive improvisations, the jazz background is recognizable. In addition, pulsating beats and synthetic sound clouds take the listener on a musical journey through different emotional worlds. For the first time, Kira Linn uses her voice as a sonic element and lyrics as another stylistic device.
