9th October 2013: 4 Star Review in from Marlbank and Review from Bebop Spoken Here for Latest Release – Romain Pilon’s ‘Colorfield’

romain_pilon_cover_colorfieldThis week we released the album Colorfield by Paris based guitarist and composer Romain Pilon and already we have in a 4 star review from Marlbank and a review from Bebop Spoken Here.

The album features leading musicians Walter Smith III on tenor saxophone, Michael Janisch on double bass, Jamire Williams on drums with Romain Pilon on guitar. The compositional approach for the album was partly based on the style of abstract painting that emerged in New York City during the 1940s and 1950s known as ‘Color Field Painting, for which the album takes its name.

Lionel Loueke has noted Romain as “a guitarist full of surprises. He has a flawless technique and a great harmonic sense. He is someone to keep an eye on.”

We will no doubt be hearing many more glowing reviews but in the mean time check out the album for yourself on the album page and below we have featured the promo video for the release.
