16th June 2013: 4 Star Review from Marlbank + Glowing Review from All About Jazz for Next WWR Release – John O’Gallagher’s ‘The Anton Webern Project’

Webern Cover PhotoJune 18th, just two days time, marks the next release for WWR – John O’Gallagher’s The Anton Webern ProjectAlready in pre-release we are receiving glowing reviews, including a 4 star review from Marlbank and a high-praising review from All About Jazz.

The Anton Webern Project is led by Grammy-award winning avant-jazz saxophonist and composer John O’Gallagher, who has uniquely arranged music by the Austrian surrealist conductor and composer Anton Webern – known for being one of the best exponents of the twelve-tone technique. The album cleverly blends jazz improvisation with music pioneered by the Second Viennese School.

Marlbank have just given the release 4 stars, stating that “the chattering, very involving O’Gallagher lead makes the music sufficiently distinctive” and that “on ‘The Secret Code’ he improvises superbly in one of his best solos of a fascinating and involving album.”

All About Jazz says “The Anton Webern Project contains a wealth of riches that pays off with multiple listens, bolstering the value of the often misunderstood jazz genre.”

The album will be available from Tuesday so please check back then. In the meantime, you can listen to a full length featured track here and album promo below.
