Ryan J. Lee

Profile

From jazz to gospel, drums to piano, Ryan J. Lee has made an impact on the US music scene, working with the likes of Wycliffe Gordon, Debra Lee and Randy Brecker. With fellow Kansas City native Logan Richardson, he appears on the latter’s 2021 release Afrofuturism.

Aside from laying down drums, Lee also plays bass and piano, and has taken in groups including the Jose James, Tony Tixier, Electric Tinks, The Bhus and Diverse. Having stayed in Kansas City, he has established himself on multiple scenes as a creative voice with the ability to move fluidly through jazz, hip-hop, funk, gospel and wider education projects.
