Trumpeter Philip Dizack is based in New York City. As well as releasing three celebrated solo albums, and being featured in the bands of Melissa Aldana, Ben Van Gelder, Dayna Stephens, his most recent appearance on Whirlwind came on Orlando le Fleming’s tribute to the muscular fusion of the 1980s, Romantic Funk: The Unfamiliar.

Dizack began his twenties touring with jazz luminaries Boby Watson, Eddie Palmieri, Dr. Lonnie Smith and Jimmy Cobb. Since then he has performed in a vast array of contexts, alongside Walter Smith III, Shai Maestro, Kendrick Scott, Eric Harland, Aaron Parks, Greg Hutchinson, Ben Wendel, Gilad Hekselman, Justin Brown, Sullivan Fortner, Nicholas Payton, Thundercat, Jon Batiste, Kamasi Washington and Morrissey. He currently holds the chair of Assistant Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of North Texas, alongside leader and sideman engagements.
