Luxembourgish drummer Paul Wiltgen is internationally recognized as an accomplished jazz percussionist and a forward-thinking composer. His most recent appearance on Whirlwind sees him team up with Michael Janisch, Kristjan Randalu and leader Patrick Cornelius for Acadia: Way of the Cairns, an album which explores music inspired by Acadia National Park in Maine.

After rising to the top of the Benelux jazz scene, Wiltgen moved to New York and the Manhattan School of Music in 2001. Since then, he has appeared with musicians including Joshua Redman, David Binney, Miles Okazaki, Linda Oh, Ambrose Akinmusire, Will Vinson, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lage Lund, Mike Moreno, Franz von Chossy, Tim Collins, Cedric Hanriot and Pablo Held. As well as the TransAtlantic Collective, Wiltgen works closely with small groups, including Organic Trio, Reis/Demuth/Wiltgen and guitarist Brian Seeger.
