Jasper Blom is a leading tenor saxophonist of the Dutch Jazz scene and one of the most versatile soloists of the BeNeLux. His band, the Jasper Blom Quartet features four internationally acclaimed Dutch jazz musicians, that have been playing together for more then 20 years.
Blom’s intelligent compositions cover a wide range of stylistic influences and are a true showcase of what melody, rhythm and harmony have to offer in composition and improvisation
In his work stories develop, while musical languages are challenged by the individuality and interplay of the band members.
Blom’s latest project “Polyphony” is a result of Blom’s fascination with 15th century polyphonic music. According to Blom, this early Western music has a remarkable melodic quality that makes it very accessible and yet it sounds as adventurous as any good contemporary music.
