Hermon Mehari

Profile

Hermon Mehari is a trumpeter based in Kansas City. His projects span the length and breadth of jazz, including an appearance on Tony Tixier’s lockdown recording I Am Human.

Mehari’s aesthetic finds a natural milestone in another lockdown recording, his sophomore disc A Change for the Dreamlike. He was a winner of the 2015 Carmine Caruso International Trumpet Competition and a semi-finalist in the 2014 Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition. As well as working with Tixier and fellow Whirlwind leader Logan Richardson, Mehari has also appeared with Jaleel Shaw, Bobby Watson, Ben Van Gelder, Aaron Parks, Joe Sanders, Randy Brecker and Clay Jenkins, and has established himself as an educator alongside his performing commitments.
