12th February 2024: Jim Hart & Cloudmakers Trio (Michael Janisch & Dave Smith) with new tour/recording featuring Grammy award winning artist Leonardo Genovese for March 2024
Cloudmakers Trio (with three previous albums on Whirlwind) blends downtown New York and European improvised music with world and rock influences. This project’s original vision – to match the textural density of a piano trio, but instead headed up by vibraphone – places exhilarating improvisation at the core, analogously emulating fleeting, ever-changing skyscapes formed by the cloud-like abstractions of power stations, led by vibraphonist Jim Hart with double bassist Michael Janisch and drummer Dave Smith – shaped distinctive, dynamic timbres from the outset.
After a break since pre-pandemic times, Cloudmakers Trio is back to present ‘A Drop Of Hope In The Ocean Of Uncertainty’ – an ambitious new recording project at Abbey Road Studios with Grammy-Award winning pianist and long-time friend of the group, Leonardo Genovese (Wayne Shorter, The Mars Volta). After the recording/filming at Abbey, the band will conduct a series of workshops and live shows in England, with release scheduled later in the year.
