10th July 2014: Review from The Jazz Breakfast for Bobby Avey’s ‘Authority Melts from Me’

In today we have a review from The Jazz Breakfast for Bobby Avey’s recent release Authority Melts from Me. The album has already gained 4.5 stars from Downbeat and 4 stars from the Irish Times and has received rave reviews including one from Something Else Reviews who say that “you can’t help but wonder where the last hour went. As you restart the recording, you realize that you just don’t care. Some masterful ensemble work.”

The Jazz Breakfast states “It’s a thrilling ride from the off” and that “all the music is subtly linked and feels very much of a piece, with the emotional depth and intensity flowing, ebbing, and then flowing ever stronger”. The review rounds up by announcing “he certainly sounds like he has made a valuable contribution with this album.”
