16th November 2014: Simon Purcell with 4 1/2 star review from All About Jazz + interview with London Jazz and his album launch party tonight at EFG London Jazz Festival

Red Circle (click here) is the debut release from international acclaimed pianist and educator Simon Purcell, currently the Head of Jazz at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance and Music in London.  Simon has been on the UK scene as a major player for over 30 years and this debut is therefore one of the year’s most highly anticipated albums.

Simon launches the album officially tonight as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho.  The band will be from the album and includes UK stalwarts Julian Siegel, Chris Batchelor, Steve Watts and Gene Calderazzo.

We’ve also had some great reviews in for the album including a 4 1/2 one from All About Jazz as well as one from Bebop Spoken Here.  Simon also gave a great interview over at London Jazz, you can read it by clicking here.

“The quality of the playing and compositions makes it stand out from the crowd. To think that Purcell has waited nearly 30 years from his initial emergence to record a debut CD this good is utterly extraordinary.”
4 1/2 Stars, All About Jazz
