Profile

Alcyona Mick started playing piano at the age of three. She has been performing internationally for many years working regularly with Arabic artist Natacha Atlas, and has performed extensively in France in recent years. She is a member of the esteemed London Jazz Orchestra, the John Warren Nonet, and has a trio with Paul Clarvis/Stuart Hall, she has played on TRT Turkish TV with many Turkish artists, and worked with a wide array of other musicians including Samy Bishai, Jerry Dammers Spatial aka Orchestra, Mircan Kaya, Noel Langly’s Edentide Ensemble, Ibrahim Maalouf, Macadi Nahhas, Tori Freestone, Zoe Rahman, Merit Ariane, Yazz Ahmed, Blink, Fae Simon.

As a composer she has a Master’s in Composing Music for Film from the National Film and Television School. She has written and produced music for many independent short films, documentaries, animation and silent cinema. She has released three albums: ‘Around the Sun’ (Audio-b) under her own name, and ‘Blink’ (Loop) and ‘Twice’ (Babel) with Blink and guest cellist Vincent Courtois. She also writes for the London Jazz Orchestra, a special duo project with saxophonist Tori Freestone, and an electronica project with Samy Bishai.
