14th November 2014: “A brilliant realization of Burton’s very personal vision” Euan Burton’s ‘Too Much Love’ gets acclaim from Marlbank, The Jazz Mann, The Scotsman and more ahead of its NOV 17 release + full length preview track.

Too Much Love (click here for sound previews) is the eagerly awaited follow up release from the award winning Scottish double bassist, composer & producer Euan Burton, whose first WWR album Occurrences (May, 2012) was met with high international acclaim. On his new release Burton continues to grow as a musician and composer, blending composition and improvisation in his signature way while creating melodic and harmonic motives that develop thematically throughout the course of the album.

We’ve had some fantastic press hit including a feature on Euan in the Scotsman ahead of the Nov 17 release.  Here are the highlights:

“The album works on every level, Too Much Love is a brilliant realization of Burton’s very personal vision.”
4 Stars, The Jazz Mann

“The resulting clutch of his compositions combines an inventive energy with some lyrical playing, as in Jackson’s sax singing through the wistful
ballad All that is Left, the nicely
cyclical melody of the title track, or the longest number, Rhapsody, which progresses from pianist Gibbs’s impressive opening cadenza through jubilant explosions and meditative murmurings.”
The Scotsman + feature

“A rather beautiful work… excellent compositions… As for Burton, a fine bass player and a composer of outstanding ability.”
Bebop Spoken Here

“Recorded in Scotland’s Castlesound studios in June last year this quartet album led by bassist Euan Burton has a strong theme-heavy character… It’s that personal aspect developing into a powerful sense of immediacy that is such an all-pervasive feature here.”
Marlbank
