New album page for Jim Hart’s ‘Cloudmakers Trio’ featuring Ralph Alessi !!

We’re very excited to report that we’ve built the album page for Jim Hart’s debut WWR Release ‘Cloudmakers Trio’ featuring Ralph Alessi. Now you can read about the album, as well as hear previews of each of the tracks.  This is Jim’s fourth album as a leader and we’re anticipating this release to make a big splash on the international scene.  Hart is one of Europe’s most in demand vibraphonists and has been heralded by press in Europe and the USA as a major force on the instrument as well as a composer of immense talent. Jim‘s debut WWR release features his new project ‘The Cloudmakers Trio‘ which is made up of WWR’s own Michael Janisch on double bass and David Smith on Drums.  The trio has performed for nearly 7 years together in various projects, collaborating with artists like alto saxophonist Logan Richardson, and embarked on their debut tour last year with special guest Ralph Alessi, one of the world’s most celebrated trumpeter and composers.  Luckily, the music was recorded at the famed Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho London, and five epic tracks from the live performance appear on the album.  The album launches officially on Sept 10 2012, and the group will be announcing some tour dates very soon.  For now, enjoy the preview tracks and we’ll have more information soon on this special release…

Internationally acclaimed solo artist, guitar-demon, composer, educator and all around cool guy Phil Robson has just started a major tour playing music from his late 2011 release ‘The Immeasurable Code.’  Featuring the iconic saxophonist Mark Turner, Downbeat Critics Poll Star Flautist Gareth Lockrane, WWR’s own powerhouse double bassist Michael Janisch, and Cuban-born, NYC/London resident drummer Ernesto Simpson, the album has been received amazingly well in the international press and has earned Robson some big accolades, such as a nomination for the ‘Jazz Album of the Year’ for the 2012 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, ‘London Art Awards’ Jazz Category in 2012, and also made the Best Album (critcs list) Jazzwise Magazine, 2011.

To Coincide with his new tour, we’ve made a new promo video for ‘The Immeasurable Code’ and also had it embedded into his album page, which you can view by clicking here, to read more, or to purchase.

New promo video for Andre Canniere ‘Forward Space’ + New Album Page Design

We’ve got a new promo video for Andre Canniere’s ‘Forward Space‘ album, which we released in early 2012.  Forward Space seriously put Andre on the map, gaining him one of the only 5 Star reviews of 2012 from The Guardian.  We’ve also updated his album page to include the video as well.  All of our album pages are currently being re-designed so that all the possible information on the album is all on one page.  Please enjoy the video below, and happy listening!

Press Highlights

“Forward Space is a promising blend of punchy Latin-funk, fusion guitar effects, loop-pattern pieces, sighing horn-led melodies – and clever writing, which establishes an exhilarating collective strength.”
The Guardian ***** (5 Stars)

‘One of the best debut recordings in a long time…a real gem’
4 Stars, Jazzwise

“Insanely Infectious…An intelligent and stimulating amalgam of jazz and rock elements. For all their jazz sophistication Canniere’s tunes often have a song like structure and flair for melody”
The Jazz Mann

“An impressive debut from a technically assured, highly individual soloist and a gifted composer.”
London Jazz

“An interesting UK debut that reveals a thoughtful musician with an open mind to his craft”
UK Vibe

“Canniere demonstrates an ability to mix and match influences from different genres to create an original concoction all his own….Canniere takes his inspirations from world politics and economics as well as from his own family, rendering Forward Space never predictable, but always played from the heart.”
All About Jazz

“The music on Forward Space presents a powerful argument for directness and visceral experience in jazz”
Music OMH

“The trumpet/guitar timbral contrast is used most effectively, and the writing is rich, making this very much a group session rather than leaving lots of room for conventional soloing against a holding rhythm section”
Jazz Breakfast (Jazz Blog Site)

“London-based US jazz and classical trumpeter Canniere leads his hugely talented post-bop fusion band through propulsive originals from new album ‘Forward Space’. Packed with heavy modern grooves and artful melodies, it’s the perfect vehicle for the trumpeter’s engaging angular solos.”
Time Out

“The music takes off most impressively in the edgier groove-based tunes like ‘Crunch’, ‘Lost in Translation’ and the title track, but they also investigate more gently impressionistic material in a couple of tunes, and Canniere’s concluding dedication to his infant son, ‘Song For J’, on which he plays all the instruments, is very pretty.”
