Future WWR 2011 Releases Update

Great news, some fantastic albums are being planned for release in 2011! Among these are uber talented vibraphonist Jim Hart’s new live release featuring NYC based trumpeter Ralph Alessi, and speaking of trumpeters, the next release of London based American trumpeter and prolific composer Andre Canniere is currently being planned and worked on. Finally, we’re very excited to report that the living legend himself Lee Konitz is set to release his next quartet album here on WWR. This was recorded live over the course of 4 concerts at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in London, for a total of 6 hours of music. The final version is currently being decided on, and the result will be Mr. Konitz’s first live recording under his own name from London (and also a very rare chance to hear him playing on soprano as well), which will be a unique addition to his multiple hundred album discography! Irish Guitarist Mark McKnight signs to WWR for 2011 Release

Northern Ireland native Mark McKnight, who has been heralded as ‘the future of Irish jazz guitar’ will be releasing his next album ‘Do or Die’ on WWR. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Mark is currently one of the most exciting young talents on the European scene. This album was recorded in 2010 while Mark took his quartet on a major UK tour and features an amazing band in US heavyweight Seamus Blake on saxophone, UK organist Ross Stanley, and highly in demand English drummer James Maddren. This is highly crafted contemporary jazz with beautiful and sophisticated harmony, and a unique sound blending organ and guitar. More details to come.

Jazz drummer Jeff Williams signs to WWR for 2011 Release

Iconic jazz drummer, Jeff Williams, whose career celebrates 40 years of music making in 2011, will be releasing his forthcoming album ‘Another Time’ on WWR (details on release dates TBA). Jeff’s playing has taken him around the world more than once with some of the biggest luminaries in the business, from Lee Konitz to Joe Lovano to Paul Bley to Stan Getz. Featuring a harmony-less ensemble of master improvisers (John O’Gallagher alto sax, Duane Eubanks trumpet, and John Hébert acoustic bass), ‘Another TIme’ is an album that beautifully demonstrates the sonic possibilities that can only occur when musicians of this caliber develop as a working group. More info to come.
